I often get asked where is the best place to go to find a cheap winter holiday that is going to include loads of sun and preferably a beach! Obviously coming from the UK and the northern hemisphere, the best place to start looking is the southern hemisphere!

Cheap Winter Sun Holidays in Africa
Africa is possibly the place where you can find the cheapest winter sun, places like Egypt, The Gambia, Kenya and Tanzania (Zanzibar) have some of the best beaches in the world. South Africa and Namibia are also very popular winter holiday destinations and then don't forget the island of Mauritius Pure with it's white sands, palm trees, and picture perfect turquoise lagoons which would definitely be in my top 10 winter sun destinations.

Winter sun holidays in the Caribbean
The Caribbean is pretty warm all year round, and there are some fantastic islands to visit, like Barbados, Antigua, the Bahamas, Grand Cayman and Bermuda. The winter months are mostly dry, with temperatures that average about 24-27°C and with nine hours of sunshine every day. Look out for late deals and last minute winter sun holidays from companies like British Airways Holidays who can offer cheap deals on hotels, package holidays or just cheap flights. USA
Florida is probably the most popular winter sun holiday destination in the USA because of it's great weather and with temperatures in Florida that stay within the 18-26°C range complete with six hours of sunshine a day, it is easy to see why. Florida and the surrounding area is prone to very changeable weather, but by November the hurricanes are gone and this can make a perfect place to work on your winter tan as well as do some quality Christmas shopping.

Europe - Best for Cheap Winter Sun Breaks
Believe it or not, not everywhere in europe experiences bleak winters like the UK, on mainland Spain their winter weather is mild, warm and dry, with temperatures of about 14-23°C on the Costas. Occasionally there may besevere weather, with gales and heavy rain, so best to search for cheap last minute deals when you know the weather is going to be great. The other great thing is the cost of holidays in the winter to Spain are way cheaper than in the summer holiday months so it is easy to grab a bargain. Majorca, Menorca and Ibiza have six hours of sunshine in the winter with comfortable temps of 14-18°C. Occasionally the Mistral wind brings severe weather to their shores.

Cyprus has temps that range from 16-23°C, and although winters are usually mild and sunny, the island can experience its heaviest rainfalls at this time.

France: The Mediterranean coast has temperatures ranging from 10-15°C and about 6 hours of sunshine a day. Avoid the area around Marseilles which is exposed to cold, blustery weather from the northerly Mistral wind. But resorts on the Côte d'Azur are sheltered from this.

Indian Sub-Continent
Goa is a popular winter sun location with fantastic beaches and cheap accomodation. The weather in Goa remains warm all year round, ranging from about 28-32°C You can dodge the rain as it falls mostly in October, November and March.
